Join us for a social with Strong Towns PDX and Portland: Neighbors Welcome for a lively discussion on current projects and plans. We’ll meet at Steeplejack Brewing on NE Broadway and 24th Ave. on Wednesday, February 18, at 6:30 pm in the Fireside Rm. Common Ground will provide appetizers and possibly a guest speaker on property tax reform and the HB 2321 study to modernize the tax structure. The program will start about 7.

Second social with Strong Towns PDX and Portland: Neighbors Welcome

Join us for another lively gathering with Portland: Neighbors Welcome and Strong Towns PDX on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 6 pm. We’ll exchange updates and news, have Q & A sessions, and enjoy appetizers on us. Common Ground OR-WA will share plans to engage in the property tax study passed in the last session as HB 2321. The venue is Steeplejack Brewing on NE Broadway and 24th in the Fireside Room as before. Bring a friend and meet fellow activists.

It has been a while since we have been able to hold in-person social events, and we all could benefit from time with fellow advocates. We will host Representative Rob Nosse, and speak about our legislative agenda for the upcoming session.

 

Northwest Economic Research Center has published results of a Portland land value-based property tax study, and we’d like to share them.

Featured Speakers (beginning at 6pm)

Jody Wiser, Tax Fairness Oregon, will share info about SJR 2, to keep property assessments within 75% of real market values, and SJR 21, to transfer property tax provisions from the Constitution to statute.
Oregon Rep. Carla Piluso will speak about property tax inequities and how to address legislators on fixing the property tax limitations.
